  1. In my opinion, a descriptive essay is a very detailed genre of essay that utilises the 5 senses to create a description of an event, place, or personal experience. If I were to choose a topic to write my descriptive essay on, it would have to be an account of a happy moment. I think that throughout my life, recollecting and reminiscing about happy moments is also worth writing about.

  6. A descriptive essay is where you try to describe something in essay form. It is also when you try to put an image in the reader's mind so that they can see or feel what you're experiencing. Out of the topics listed, I would like to write about sports at school because I really enjoyed a sport that I joined and experienced many new things throughout the sport. In today’s activities, we are going through our first moodle online session. We read and discussed about the writing process: stage two on the online session. We also explained what a descriptive essay is in our words, we chose a topic that were listed in the “Four Major Essays” and explained the reason why we chose that topic.

  7. A descriptive essay is the easiest essay to write. While it does require some thinking and organizing, it does not necessarily require a lot of research. Descriptive essays are all about an experience the writer may have had, or the admiration of a certain item. These essays may contain a lot of emotions and memories depending on what the writer is writing about. If I were to write a descriptive essay it would be something that had impacted my life. A recurring memory of the past.

  8. Today was the first online session we had on moodle. I still haven't figured out how to use moodle yet so I just read the lesson and did the exercises in the book. A descriptive essay is an essay that describes a noun (person, place, thing, event, etc) by using your 5 senses and making it imaginable. I would choose the topic computer for my essay topic. If someone figures out what we are suppose to do in moodle please comment. Thank you!

    3. You are not alone, I too am a novice at navigating moodle and the blogging section for our class. I remember an incident where I posted and later couldn't find my post. I am hoping that eventually sooner, than later, I figure out this process.

  9. In my opinion, a descriptive essay paints a picture with words. A writer may describe a person, place, object, or even a significant experience encountered. I would love to write about an adventure I had in the past. My essay would talk about the things I've seen, heard, felt, touched and tasted throughout this adventure. I would try my best to give the reader a visual perspective of my story.

  10. Today for our EN100 class, we technically did and didn't have class at the same time. We have to go on our blog section for the very first day today and blog about the task given to us. We needed to read over "Writing the Controlling Idea", and "Organizing Support". When I read over Writing the Controlling Idea, I found out I needed to be careful of my sentences to make sure they weren't either too vague, too broad, or too narrow. When i read over Organizing Support, I learned tools such as Listing, Clustering, and Outlining to help me with my Subject and Focus on a paragraph and/or essay.

    1. Its an interesting experience having the class online. I wouldn't mind having the class online all the time.

    2. I agree. I learned a lot today about the three tools and more. What is your descriptive topic about?

      Delete
    3. In my opinion, having an online class isn't the greatest and can be demanding. Having a HYBRID class is something I would gravitate more towards. Having access to the instructors, professors, and or doctors is a plus. Online courses can be overwhelming at times especially when there is no interaction class wise.

      Delete
    4. I was a bit skeptical about having a hybrid class but today made me realize what kind of learner I am. I prefer interaction with classmates while being in a class room. Personally, It felt quite off to be reading alone and not having any sort of explanation. But hopefully I'll get used to it.

  11. A descriptive essay is a type of essay that describes something. It could be a person, place, an event, and more. The five senses can be used in a descriptive essay. The goal is to paint an image in the reader's mind. If I were to write a descriptive essay, it would be about an unforgettable experience.

  12. A descriptive essay is an essay where you try to paint an image in the readers mind. When writing a descriptive essay you should try to use senses to immerse your reader. For my descriptive essay I would write about my home. It might be a little easier to describe because I see it almost every day.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I like your topic its easy and your right a home would be easy to writie about since you practically see it every day.

    2. I was thinking about writing about my home as well! It seems like an easy topic since we're used to the surroundings.

    3. I think the topic you choose is good and easy. You can talk about a lot of things and use very descriptive detail.

  13. What I learned from the descriptive essay is that it's a special essay where the contents within the essay will convey the senses to the reader. Such as the story or what is told in the essay will give the reader a sense of what is happening and even a feeling of what is happening. Giving and painting an image through the five senses to the reader. Overall a descriptive essay is a special type of essay that incorporates the senses. Also if i had to choose a topic for my descriptive essay I would choose the topic on a past event or adventure I went through.

    1. I love how you put your words together. It is just simply amazing on how you do it. I can not wait to read your essay.

    2. Adventurous topics are quite exciting to read about. I'm curious as to what type of adventure you would choose. My guess would be hiking with friends, right?

  14. A descriptive essay by definition in simplest terms to me would be an essay written as vivid, creative, dramatic, and alive, whereby it captures the reader to imagine what is being read - down to the most precised detail. I am uncertain on what topic I would choose. What comes to mind are several things. Riding a cafe bike, eating a lite decadent cupcake, a crime scene, or even being a female in law enforcement. The topics seems endless at this point.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I agree with the topics being endless. I too do not know what to choose.

      Delete
    2. I agree it's hard to choose a topic because there's so many to pick from! I hope you find which one you want to do.

      Delete
  15. Today I learned that descriptive essays are put in the most simplest way with all the contents in it. It is to make the reader read the whole story and understand it by using the five senses which is hearing, visualizing, touching, smelling and tasting the descriptive essay that has been written by another person. I am not quite sure what topic to choose, but I will eventually find one.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I too am debating on finding a topic to write about. I hope you do eventually find a topic that interest you as well as the readers!

  16. The purpose of a descriptive essay is to describe a subject with such details with more explanation/comparison. In that matter, it helps make the story more interesting than boring or confusing. It may also catch the readers attention even more by using the five senses. As for my descriptive essay, I'm still deciding on two subjects like experiences I have gone through that changed my life.

    ReplyDelete
  17. What I learned from reading is about descriptive essays. They try to paint an image into the readers mind. They write about anything whatever the subject may be to make the reader feel as if they were there. To do that the writer talks about the 5 senses, what they feel, see, smell, hear, and taste.

    ReplyDelete
  18. From my reading, a descriptive essay is a type of essay that describes a certain topic in the best details possible. Personally, I enjoy writing descriptive essays. It's much easier since it requires using the five major senses; touch, sight, smell, hearing, and tasting. I'm debating whether to write a descriptive essay on the first concert I attended or my favorite meal/dish. There's a long list of other topics but I'll eventually find one to write about.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I too enjoy writing descriptive essays. I think both the topics you're deciding to chose from are really good topics. I would say food but I think a concert would be interesting.

      Delete
    2. I also think that descriptive essays are better than the other essays. I think a concert is a pretty good topic. There are so many things that go on during a concert.

      Delete
  19. In my opinion, a descriptive essay is an essay that describes a topic in lots of detail from the writers experience. The descriptive topic I would select would be on food. I would select this topic because there's different types of food I can choose from. I can also tie in the five senses while talking about my topic. Plus I really like food.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I think food is an awesome topic! If you were to write a descriptive essay about food and I were to read it, I would probably die from craving that food. Using the five senses on a descriptive essay about food is the way to go.

  20. I'm still trying to figure this Moodle thing out and it was the first time I ever had an online session. I've just read the "The Writing Process: Stage 2". What is a descriptive essay? In my words, a descriptive essay is an essay where you describe something. It is where you paint a vivid picture to the reader, using words. It could be an object, person, place, experience, emotion, or situation.
