  2. Argumentative essay, makes us as writers go deep into the topics we choose. This essay makes us investigate more and more and also get more information about the subject. We can choose multiple topics and find the differences and the similarity and argue about the topics. The topic I would choose: "Fathers should be allowed the same treatment as mothers in family court decisions. Too
many times the mother is favored because of the "nurturing" stereotype."
Because it is true that the mother is favored in a lot of court cases in which it is not fair towards the man. In the case, the pair should be equally treated not favored because the victim is a lady.

  4. An argumentative essay is a collection of evidence written down to support a certain topic. Extensive research must be provided to collect data, to ensure an awesome persuasive essay. I am looking forward to writing this essay and doing the needed research to complete and persuade readers. We should outlaw genetically modified foods until further research [how much?] can be
done to see if these foods affect the environment or us. It is important to know the truths behind the so called "organic" foods that we intake.

    1. I believe we all should know the truth as well. Companies may say they're organic, but we don't know that.

    2. Very interesting topic. You'll be able to find a lot of information about that in the movie forks over knives.

  5. An argumentative essay it is an essay that you talk about an topic that you are into that has pro and cons about your topic. You get to argue and make people realize your point of view. The topic that I would talk about for my argumentative essay is All Minnesota K - 12 public schools should adopt a school uniform policy. I pick this topic because not everyone could afford new clothes every single week. All student should feel comfortable so no one would judge their outfits when some wears open clothes.

    1. I see your point of view, and yes it is hard to find an outfit that you ladies in here would like.

    2. I agree, not everyone can afford new clothes every single week. lol

    3. I can relate because I have been using uniforms since elementary and it was really convenient. I hate having to pick out an outfit every day.

      Delete
    4. Yes, it was much easier to wear uniform because we didn't have to choose our outfits.

    5. I like your topic! It's definitely true that not all people could afford to buy clothes so it is good to have standard clothing, in this case, uniforms for all Minnesota public school! You are very considerate so keep it up!

  6. An argumentative essay is a type of essay that aims to evaluate and present a topic, while establishing a position on the topic. The writer must be clear and concise about his or her topic and must include efficient evidence. I would like to choose the topic: Fathers should be allowed the same treatment as mothers in family court decisions. Too many times the mother is favored because of the "nurturing" stereotype. I think it would be an interesting topic to research. Today we completed a survey in the beginning of class. I thought the questions and choices on the survey weren't clear enough.

  7. An argumentative essay is an essay where you defend your topic with supporting details. The topic I am going to go with is "Drivers in MN(or nationwide) should not be permitted to use cell phones while driving (calling/texting) I choose that topic because I find it fairly easy to talk about due to my own experiences.

  8. An argumentative essay basically deals with deep and detailed researching. Finding out the reason why and supporting details that had been brought up about the subject. An argumentative essay feels like it will take more time and will not be successful if you procrastinate. If I were to choose a topic from the topics listed, Using death row inmates as test products instead of animals. My reason for choosing that topic is Animals are already going through enough as it is. Pollution, Humans destroying their habitats and also them going extinct. Should we use inmates to death row, they don't really have much to live for, but staying in prison and doing the same thing every day. They could be more useful and give back to the society. Although, the process may seem dangerous, they are the ones who have been put in a dangerous situation to get themselves in a death sentence.

    1. I think animal testing is already cruel enough. Putting prisoners in their place is just inhumane.

    2. Yes, humans are destroying their habitats which isn't good.

  9. An argumentative essay is when you compare two things together and discuss them. It's the law of arguing. I looked at the argumentative essay topics and I would pick drivers should NOT be permitted to use cellphones while driving talking/texting. I would pick that topic because it's the easiest one. And I think it will be easy to argue. (THANK YOU TAYLOR FOR POINTING THAT OUT!!!!)

    4. Most girl drivers rely on backup censors and do not even look back. Lord help us with majority of woman drivers. It takes them five times to park straight.

  10. An argumentative essay is basically stating your facts with a point in a clear, concise form with having a cause and effect. The topic I would probably use is " How music effects our lives", Because I think that everyone can somehow relate to this topic in their life.

  11. An argumentative/persuasive essay is used to support a specific point. It reminds me much of a debate in the written word because of the arguments that are made and the factual statements that are required to make it a solid essay. I would probably select the topic: "Fathers should be allowed the same treatment as mothers in family court decisions. Too many times the mother is favored because of the "nurturing" stereotype." because I feel like I can make a strong argument that gender is not an indication of better nurturing and often times the father can be the better parent to their child.

    3. I somewhat agree because wearing uniform sucks. On the other hand, wearing your own clothes can be good as well because it helps you express yourself, but it also sucks because you run out of outfits to wear. Im pretty sure girls could relate

    4. That is true! School should be able to purchase uniforms to be neat

    5. I hated uniforms too in school. Most schools in the mainland allow students to wear whatever they want as long as it's appropriate.

    6. I agree with Rose! Wearing uniform sucks but now I don't need to, it's hard when you run out of outfits!

    7. I agree, wearing uniform on the daily was not something I enjoyed. On the other hand, being in college and not having uniform has its ups and downs. I do not enjoy picking my outfit in the morning.

  15. An argumentative essay is similar to an expository essay in the sense that requires extensive research and concise structure. However, argumentative essays proposes a side to a topic and persuades an audience to accept such side. The topic that I would like to write about is: "Drivers in MN [or nationwide] should not be permitted to use cell phones while driving(talking and/or texting)" because i would like to raise awareness on the harmful and possibly fatal results caused by phone usage while driving. I believe that today's survey will help the English Department figure out which type of class (online or traditional) would best serve the students, enabling them to acquire extensive knowledge and skills in English. This will definitely be beneficial for us students, especially the incoming students in UOG.

  16. An argumentative essay goes hand in hand with a persuasive essay because with argumentative it revolves around research. To be able to have enough evidence to support your thesis statement. With an argumentative essay it must be clear and concise, to be able to use facts, data and all other evidence to prove why your thesis is logical and correct. Now with a persuasive essay you must try to convince your audience in trying to agree with your argumentative thesis.

  17. An argumentative essay is when an essay has something to argue about. It also needs as much details as possible. As I looked at the argumentative list of topic, the topic that caught my eye is when Drivers in MN [or nationwide] should not be permitted to use cell phones while driving
(talking and/or texting). I do agree with that but at the same time I have a lot of ideas and thoughts that would disagree with it as well. So, it would be a fun and easy essay topic that would fit an argumentative/persuasive essay.

  18. Agree to disagree, is what I see when the argumentative essay is brought to mind. Essentially the author collects facts from cited sources to prove a specific point of view he/her sees to support. As the author collects positive facts for the view point being support they also collect negative facts to support the same view point. Thus it creating a point of view supported with facts to prove why one point it rather than the other conflicting sport.

  19. To me an argumentative essay is an essay that has two sides to an argument and the writer usually favors one of the sides. An argumentative essay has alot of research and evidence. After going over the different topics I would choose "Drivers in MN [or nationwide] should not be permitted to use cell phones while driving
(talking and/or texting)." I would choose this topic because texting and driving can be very deadly, not only for the person driving but for surrounding drivers as well.

  20. An argumentative essay is a type of essay in which you choose to defend or argue about a topic of your choosing. You back it up with details and evidence that support your claim. The purpose of this argumentative essay is to convince other people into your way of thinking. The topic I might be writing about is, "We shouldn't use death row inmates as subjects for medical testings rather than animals" because it seems interesting that some people are actually considering this.
