  1. Today we went over our test #2 essay and self-reflection midterm. The assignments were pretty simple because I was prepared for it using Dr. Rivera's steps to writing better papers. The student's refections were fascinating because I learned more about their thoughts about this class. Overall, today was a chill and educating day. Si Yu'us Ma'ase.

  3. I love test two: the narrative essay. I was prepared for it. I found that it was easy because I was literally talking about my experience. I used the writing process for the narrative essay. The writing process is really helpful when it comes to writing essays. That was another thing that helped prepare me for test two. In class, we shared our topics, thesis statements, and our midterm self reflection. After we shared our essays, we then finished class with writing in our blog.

    4. I think this test was a lot easier because we can take ideas from writing the previous descriptive essay. The writing process did help a lot =)

  4. Test #2 was a lot easier to write than test #1. I was prepared for test #2 and I knew what I was going to write about. As usual I used the three stages of writing and it helped me organize my ideas. I enjoy hearing people talk about their essay and the different experiences they've had.

  5. For today’s test I was prepared because I had a great time doing the test. It was kind of similar to our first test but even better. I felt like it was much more fun doing this test. The test may consist of your five senses. Overall, we all shared our tests and I really liked how some of us read the whole things or even just the first paragraph.

  6. I think my Test #2 was an improvement from my Test #1. This time, I printed out the right essay. On the previous essay, I mistakenly printed out my rough draft. I believe that I was better prepared for Test #2, but I know that I can improve on my next essay. Today we shared parts of our Narrative essay, and our midterm self-reflection.
Overall, hearing everyone who shared their essays made me appreciate the learning environment that we have.

  8. Today's class was wonderful! I got to hear a bits and pieces of what some people wrote for Test 2, while others were generous and shared their entire stories. I enjoy writing narratives because I think it's easy to write about your personal experience. I found the Mid Term to be a bit difficult but the guidelines laid out on the website helped me formulate what to write.

    2. I totally agree about the narrative. It is personal that is why it is easier to write unlike the mid-term which was a bit challenging to write. Even if the mid-term was a self-reflection, it was more difficult.

  9. I love today’s activities. We shared the essays, both the narrative and the mid-term. I enjoy hearing people share because we learn a little about themselves through their paper. I’m sure not everyone knows each other and these tests given helps us learn a little more about them. But in all honesty, the mid-term threw me off because I was more focused on writing my narrative essay. Overall, it was a good day.

  10. As for Test #2, I can say that I was not prepared for it. With most of my classes assigning midterm assignments and essay, I was stressing out which one to do first. Fortunately, I was able to do all of them to the best of my abilities, including the Test #2: Narrative Essay and Midterm Reflection.

For the first stage of the essay, I did the listing and outlining of events. For the next essay, hopefully, I have learned my lesson and not put-off the take home tests.

During class today, the class shared the topic and thesis of their essays and also what they learned after writing the essay. I thought that all of the essays are very interesting because of how their experiences range from something negative to something positive.

  11. Taking Test #2 was fun. It let me remember all the fun things I went through in the past, and it let me re-live them in my mind. While I was thinking of a topic, I thought of everything that I was able to write about. Jumping through thoughts in my mind just trying to find something solid to write about. I was a little nervous while presenting, but it really was just a minor thing. I love test days.

  14. After hearing my classmates present their narrative essays, I would say that mine is a bit different. I talk about my experiences and how it relates to qualities such as, motivation, determination and hard work. I was definitely not prepared until today because like the first time, I completed my essay right before class. I really liked listening to the interesting stories that everyone told. It was all unique and different. Good job, guys!

  15. It was easy to write my narrative essay, however the trouble I had was that I got emotional looking back at this night. I thought I put this much heart into it, I could not stop now. I also did not know whether I was writing it correctly or not. I was prepared for it though. I feel like it was easy to write about being it was a first hand experience. I, like the first essay, used all strategies and steps for writing an essay. I love test days! I love hearing Berlin’s police stories, they give me goosebumps. I loved listening to Iexora’s essay, definitely touched my heart. I get so sappy with those things. Overall, this was a good morning.

    2. I had that feeling of doubt, too, like thinking if I did my essay correctly or not. As for me, it was easy thinking of the idea to write about, but writing the essay, itself, was hard because there were so many things I wanted to include but couldn't put them chronologically. That was where outlining helped me. Two tests completed, and now two more remain. One that note, good-luck to us all. :)

  16. I was in such a rush today. I finished test #2 and the midterm reflection, but as a writer I feel like I wasn't that confident when it came to my midterm self reflection. I did not know it was suppose to be two pages long, so I was in a state where I needed to get it into two, but I ended up writing a whole new midterm self reflection. As for my narrative, I gave the accident that happened with my pinkie.I hoope to do much better with these essays and give myself much more time to write one.

  17. I really enjoyed todays class and listening to the many different topics for test #2. Furthermore, I love how our English tests consist of just writing essays. It’s less stressful and allows us to take time to perfect our paper. As the days go by, I know that I’ll learn so much in this EN100 class that will give me skills to help me later on in life.

  18. I thought test #2 was fairly easy. Only because writing the narrative essay came naturally. It seriously felt like I was just telling a story to a friend or family member. I prepared myself by taking advantage of stage one. I chose to free write hoping it would get the juices flowing and it worked in my favor.
During today's activities, everyone had the option to read their narratives. I always get excited when someone is brave enough to read theirs! :D Brings me back to those days in kindergarten when everyone was in awe at whoever is reading. Fun stuff. Now its time to tackle Test #3! >:D

  19. Today's activity was great. It was full of laugh and joy. Everyone did a good job of presenting their narrative essay and midterm self reflection, but I feel like except mine. I was kind of rush for the midterm self reflection because I did not prepare enough and I have so much essays and tests have to finish at the same time. In such as this heavy situation, I don't expect to obtain a good grade but at least pass. However, I still have chance to improve my grade. I definitely will do better in the rest of the semester.

  22. I know I started my essay in advance with no time to waste, but when it came closer to the date of submission, I made may last minute changes to the essay that it appeared as if I was unprepared. I find it difficult to take life experiences and jot them on paper knowing that there are rules to follow when writing. I'm still at the learning stages and hope that one day I'll be comfortable enough to write effectively with the different techniques. I enjoy listening to people's thoughts written on paper and in conversation.
