  1. Reading does give you more knowledge if you understand it, and in order to think deeply about a topic you need to read and in order to write it good you need knowledge from others that understand it better and write it down and and put it into work. The ability to think is common in everyone, but it is with different knowledge that we think differently. Improve in all aspects in life at least try. Today in class made me feel like I should contribute more to society, it is not that I do not because we all do but I believe my knowledge can help young kids and adults as well, and to create a helping work force to fix up parts of our society that need attending to.

    1. If you're saying you should contribute more to society then you should get a job. :)

    2. I agree, the act of reading could be a challenge if someone doesn't understand the reading and requires more thinking, which will resolve in asking a friend about what they read and also what they are thinking about the topic you are trying to read and write about.

    5. I agree with you that reading can be a challenge if you dont understand what you are reading which makes you blank out. It is better to think first before making an essay.

    6. Knowledge is power! we all should contribute to society for it to move forward.

  2. Reading and writing are basically the same for me. Reading starts off as writing. If you don't know how to write you basically don't be able to read. But it really does improve in our ability to think! Without learning how to read and write, how will be able to survive in our world today? Today's prompt activity was pretty challeneging for me, because I didn't know much about it. I had a hard time brain storming my ideas. I had a hard time putting my thoughts into words.

    3. I found today's activity pretty challenging as well. Who would ever have thought that an artist who builds models and paints pictures could contribute more than a scientist who have found unbelievable solutions and information that have gone on in the world and about the world too.

    4. I had a hard time brainstorming too. I didn't really have any knowledge about the topic.

    5. Me too! I had a hard time brainstorming on our essay topic today. It was really challenging that I did not know what to talk about especially the sciencetist part.

  3. Reading and writing combined create a strong relationship. If you do not know how to read then write and if you do not know how to write then read, maybe then you will be able to accumulate the skill of reading and writing. While reading and writing, your mind will be in the act of thinking and the only way to think is to be active in what you are reading and writing about. In today's activity, We were given a chance to practice for our final exam. I believe that it will help tremendously due to the fact that we will have some knowledge about how we did on our practice test and could improve in those areas for the final.

  4. I think that when you read something whether you are conscious of it or not you are thinking and trying to understand what you are reading. When you write something you are thinking before you actually write something and reading only further helps what you are writing. For the assignment today, i am not too sure how well i did. The topic today was a little tough for me, but i feel having these topics, especially ones you are not comfortable with will help me in the long run with my own writing skills. For the topic i personally thought that scientists outweighed artists in terms of contribution value to my society.

  6. I agree that in order to become a better writer you need to read a lot. If you chose a career that deals with writing then you should read a a lot more. Reading improves the way you write. I also agree that they both work together and they improve your skills. Today class was quiet and the prompt was a lot easier to understand. Reading the prompt it made me think about the career that I have chosen and why I chose that career.

  7. I strongly agree that reading does make a writer's thoughts more creative and it helps think deeper into the topic. It also helps with gathering more information. To me, i think that reading gives you much more ideas aside from your thoughts. Reading makes me think much better and it helps see the bigger picture in life. As I wrote the in class practice exit exam, it made me think and appreciate the inventions that scientist today discover. I realize that they put so much contribution to the society today. They are as valuable as other important things in life. " They are not JUST scientist"

  8. Reading can give you many ideas on what you are going to write about in order to start something. Writing makes people understand what you are trying to point out. Many people have different skills and ability to understand what some audience are trying to point out. If you think thoroughly, it helps you understand more.

Today's activity that we did an essay on made me blank out. I made an list on what to write about my topic Scientists and Artists. Writing my exist essay made me realize that I should know many more information about Scientist because I barely had something to say about them.

  9. Reading and writing both have a connection with one another. Writing affects reading and reading affects writing. To me I think reading helps you build your writing skills. We read before we can write anything, so reading plays more of an important part. In today's lesson, we had a writing activity. We had to write an essay with an already given question. In order for us to write, we had to understand what the question was saying. I understood the question so it was easy for me to write.

  10. My interpretation of this quote is that the more a person is able to analyse literature, the better they will be at creating something of their own. I found that this really applied to me today. I was frustrated because I had no clue what to write about with this prompt because I am neither an artist or a scientist and am uneducated of the effect these people have on the community. After doing some research, I was able to take what I had read and wrote about something I had previously had no idea about. Through this process I learned a lot. I must admit, I do not enjoy doing essays in a time crunch but I realize I have to get used to it because it will be required numerous times in college.

    1. I could not have said better than what you just wrote. I most definitely agree, it is hard to write a topic about something that you hardly know or know nothing about. But when you do some research and actually have an understanding of what it is you are suppose to write about, the flow of your paper should be ongoing and much easier for you to continue to write.

    2. I agree! Researching helps us further with our essays. You can't just compose an essay without understanding the topic. I had learned a lot also with this process!

    3. Honestly, researching on the topic really helps, especially when you don't have any insight on the topic being asked.

  11. They do go hand in hand, but I think it's better to learn how to read first before writing so that you get an idea of how it works. As for today's activity, I leaned towards scientists contributing more to society because they have helped improved our lives so much

  12. I agree! Reading helps you write better and through writing, one improves in reading. Both go hand and hand like peanut butter and jelly! Today, we wrote a practice essay for our exit exam. I must say that these exercises will help us be prepared for that upcoming exam. Although it was challenging, it is fun to do. It was indeed another odd class day because everyone was so quiet and focused on their tasks. Focus and concentration is the main theme of today's class.

  13. Reading does give you a clear knowledge and understanding of what it is you are preparing to write about, You can not write about something that you do not understand, in this case reading and writing does go hand in hand. Because when you read, you allow your mind to explore and wander giving you ideas on the things you should focus and write about. So when you finally come across a paper because of the fact that you have gained somewhat of an understanding of what you have read. The process on writing your paper would be much easier!

  14. Reading and writing are closely connected. Reading can help a writer in many ways. It can help expand the students vocabulary and help the student understand the art of literature. Reading can also help a writer fully understand and expand on a topic they are about to talk about. Today, we did a practice essay about the benefits of art and science. I had a little trouble writing my essay because I was not really fond of the topic. However, I think my end result was better than my first practice essay.

  15. In order to write better, you must learn how to read. When you read, you learn sentence structure and new vocabulary. The next time you write, you will apply these lessons. Altogether, you use your brain to interpret your writing or reading. In today's activity, we wrote our exit exam essay. It was a bit challenging because I felt pressured to finish it before the class ends. Fortunately, I clustered my ideas which made it easier to write the essay.

  16. Reading, writing and thinking do go hand in hand. When we read, we start to become better writers. Reading has different writing styles and structures which can help us with our own writing. Once you develop the ability of working together reading and writing, it allows you to improve your thinking. The essay we did in class had me struggling a bit because I really was not sure on what to write on in a certain amount of time. I also had trouble writing my essay due to a power surge which then I had to wait awhile for the computer to turn back on. I was scared that my essay would be all gone when it shut off on me because I was almost done with it! But overall, I am glad that we do essays and exercises in class because it will surely help me with my exam at the end of semester.

  17. When I was 4th grade my dad transferred me to an English speaking school. In order for me to catch up and not get held behind, I spent my weekends, winter and summer breaks reading and writing a summary on a book that I had read. In the end it payed off because I can now read, write, and speak English. Reading and writing helped me to communicate better with my dad and my friends and it is not the main language that I speak. In class, we were tasked to write an essay and as usual I took a long time because I was not able to jot my ideas down. Next time, it will be noted to do stage 1 first then write an essay.
