  1. People are good at writing or reading. We get our knowledge by reading different kind of books. When it comes to writing, we have a good supporting details by reading different books. They can write whatever they want when it comes to their mind. Their writing has a connection when they read every day. When we read, we learned different words and we can use it in our writing. Reading is beneficial for us to have an ability to write an essay. If they do not read any book, they have a problem writing an essay.

    1. I totally agree with your opinion on the quote. Reading different variety of books helps broaden the techniques we can use in writing.

    2. I also agree with the reading being beneficial part. Reading is a good source of knowledge to help you write essays.

    3. I agree, they both have a connection to each other. They both benefit one another. I think reading books can open many doors to more ideas to help you with your essay.

    4. Yes, they are both very beneficial in many ways. We gain a lot of knowledge from reading and writing.

    5. I too agree, reading will subconsciously help you become better in writing. If something doesn't seem right in your paragraph, you can probably rearrange it to make it into something better. You know it's not as good as it can be just because you read so many books where they have wrote the same thing, but in a much nicer and neater way.

    6. I agree with your opinion because you do get better reading and writing by reading books. They give you different vocabulary to expand knowledge.

    7. I love your interpretation of the quote, but published books also have typos. I guess that if you read and write a lot, your brain will end up doing the correction for you so you don't really notice the typo.

    8. What you just said, was really powerful.

    9. Your interpretation was well said. I agree with it!

  2. This quote states the beneficial effect of how reading and writing go together almost seamlessly and in my personal opinion that really is true. The foundation of grammar and linguistics is based around how we use are reading and writing skills in our lives. In order to get better as readers and writers we must do both in order to gain the ability to broaden our minds and come up with new ideas. Other than analysing the quote and doing the online classes, I relaxed and watched Monday Night Football.

    4. You probably do read a lot because you write very well. I really like how you said "In order to get better as readers and writers, we must do both to broaden our minds". What you wrote is definitely true.

    5. I agree with you. You just reminded me that I need to continue my reading habits. I'm sure that reading will give ideas as to how we write our essays. We'll never know!

    6. We need to be relaxed and cool when doing assignments. I like what you do to relax after you finish your work.

    7. Another great interpretation like Camille's. You chose the right words to explain it.

    8. Good interpretation of the quote and great way to use big words.

  3. The quote means that you will need to know how to read to know how to write and vice versa. Both help each other understand the other one better so it is kind of like they are dependent to each other. Overall, today I went to class and now I am doing my moodle. I thought there was no blog today because it wasn't on our calendar of events.

    3. I agree, they are dependent on each other. You cant excel in one without practicing on the other.

    4. I agree, if you keep reading, you will pick up things and become a little better over time.

    5. Almost forgot about the blog as well! Luckily I saw it on the moodle.

    6. I thought we did not have to do the blogs since I did not see it in the class schedule. Looks like I was wrong.

    9. I agree that reading and writing depend on each other.

    10. Great explanation on what the quote means.

  4. My interpretation of this quote is that it is basically saying you can't write without reading, just like how you can't read without writing. They just go together. I mean what's the point of reading something if you can't understand what the writer is writing. And what's the point of the writer writing and you can't understand. You need both. Using both reading and writing will improve the functions of the brain and allow it to develop. My thought's on today's activity is that it was nerve racking because I had to give an oral presentation to much older people. I found that to be very intimidating.

    2. I like your interpretation of the quote. Reading and writing can't be alone, they have to be together.

    3. I agree, reading and writing are both very important to each other. If you want to be proficient in one you should be doing just as well with the other one.

    4. I agree and I like how you got straight to the point straight to the point," they just go together". You cant just have one or the other, you would need both.

      Delete
    5. I think a lot of people forget how we need both skills and not just one. I've seen a lot of people read really fast, but struggle to write so I totally agree with your points!

      Delete
    6. I agree with you that it takes both to think better.

  5. I have always been awful at essays, and my mom says it's because I don't read very much.My mom shares the same opinion as this quote. I also greatly agree with what the quote states. The more you read, the better your understanding of writing becomes. The quote means that doing one thing, will greatly benefit your skill in the other.

    4. Im with you on not good at writing essays, but happy to learn step by step on how to make a strong essay.

    5. I'm glad your mom agrees with you on the quote! I know a lot of people today who fail to see the importance of reading and writing so it is good to know your mom understands.

    6. I agree and I feel you. It is not my hobby to read. When I read a book, it helps me to gain knowledge.

    7. Yes it will benefit us. I agree with your interpretation

  6. What this means to me is that the both go hand in hand. They will help each other and help you excel as you learn more. Writing may give you questions on how to write a sentence in the correct form, or where to put a comma. Reading will teach you the correct way to write and you may unknowingly pick it up just by going through your book.

  8. What this quote means to me is that it is a give and take kind of thing. When you are reading, you are learning new vocabulary to use and write down in essays and when you are writing something, your reading becomes better because you are understanding what you are writing. When you put these two elements together, you become a better writer.

  9. I believe that the quote is saying that reading and writing go hand in hand to benefit the mind; to become a thinker. I have read a lot of books, I can honestly say that I think my writing skills improve little by little as I read. I have read many books, so I suppose you can say that I have seen many styles of writing. Not only does reading help me write, but the opposite also happens. Writing helps me become a better reader. As I write my essays or thoughts, I can see the styles used by some of my favorite authors. As I read and write, I start to think, and thinking is good for you; just don’t overthink. I also believe that reading and writing has broaden my mind. (I’m not sure if I explained that well, but I hope someone will understand what I’m trying to say.)
Today’s activity was pretty simple. We just discussed about “The Zones of the Sea” and the blog.

  10. I think that this quote is mainly saying, you cannot do one thing without at least learning something from the other. What we did today was read Analysis by Division and work on critical thinking exercises. Analysis by Division is especially important if you wish to write a good review about something. The exercise was easy because all we needed to do was answer some questions. Then at our class blog, we needed to type what we think of the quote at the top of the page.

  11. The quote means that reading and writing are the two most important things into becoming successful. They both help our mind by expanding our knowledge. The more a person reads, the better their writing becomes. Also, the more a person writes, their vocabulary expands even bigger. Today's activity was mainly on moodle and the blogspot.

  12. What this quote is saying is that reading will help you write better, and you will learn to read by writing. Reading and writing support each other, and that using both to your advantage will improve your ability to think. I enjoyed doing the online class today, because I got to learn more about the different zones in our oceans, and also learning about writing analysis by division.

  13. This quote is mainly saying if you can't crawl, you can't walk or either run. To learn how to write you must learn to read, and to read you must learn to write, both together equals a better mind.

  14. This quote basically says that if the more you read you will improve your writing and vis-versa. Such as taking your first steps or learning in school. You learn first to read and then you learn to write. Eventually the more you read it will help and improve your writing. Overall doing and improving both will help you think. This is what I got from the quote.

  15. I believe that this quote means that writing and reading are skills that can’t be separated. They both work together and stay together. They also benefit each other as well as helping each other. Being able to read and write helps the mind to think and become creative with its thoughts. In today’s activities, we read about analysis by division, the zones of the sea, and the quote. Then we post our thoughts on moodle and the blog site. Overall, today was a slow day and a relaxing one.

  16. As I read and reread the quote given, I'm in awe due to the comparison of a ripple. The quote basically tells me that in order for me to write well I must read well and vice-versa. The conclusion of it all means that reading and writing work hand and hand to help your thinking skills. If you can't do either one well enough, it'll be really hard for you to succeed in life. Therefore, reading and writing must be taken seriously and not be thought as a waste of time.

  17. I read the quote above and what it means to me is, that reading and writing can't do without each other. They go together like peanut butter and jelly. If you were to take one ingredient and remove it, it wouldn't be right. Reading and writing go hand in hand. If you didn't read you couldn't write properly.
