  1. I think the quote is basically just stating the fact that you can't better one skill just by focusing on that skill alone. You need to practice other skills that will work well with what you are trying to improve. I wasn't expecting to have a practice exam but it wasn't too bad.

    1. I agree! The skills go hand in hand and help better the other.
I was surprised too! But it seems like you still manage to work
well despite not being told ahead of time and given the necessary
      time to prepare.

    2. I agree! Doing one skill will not enhance the other and vice versa. The practice exam was indeed not too bad. =)

    4. The skills that this quote undermine are valuable. I agree that skills of writing intertwine with each other. I thought the practice exam was difficult.

    5. Indeed. One cannot just master a skill without practicing and dabbling into others as well.

  2. I think the quote is self explanatory, the two go hand in hand and contribute to your success in reading and writing. In my personal experience I agree with the quote, reading makes me a better writer because I am exposed to a wide variety of works that influence and make my writing better. In regards to today's class I found it helpful to prepare me for our exit exam. I think that the question gave me enough information to be able to answer it without the use of research on the computer.

  3. I think the quote is to show that reading and writing work hand in hand to improve your ability to think. Doing just one thing like reading, won't enhance your writing skills and vice versa. I think that today's writing activity was a little easier to write about. I had my thoughts processed and it was collectively organized. All in all, I believe I can do better on the final assessment.

  4. The quote is very short yet very true. If you cannot read what makes you think you can be able to write a well structured essay. Similar to our topic to day science and art both go hand and hand. They need each other in order to advance.

  6. This quote enforces a deep expression. From what I understand from it is that practicing skills involving reading and writing will help improve our knowledge as individuals. Today, we did a practice exam essay and I thought it was difficult because it takes time for me to think about what I am going to write about, especially if I am not interested in the topic. Although, it was difficult, I needed it to help me practice for the final exam.

  7. The quote is to inspire writers ways to improve our writing. Because it is true, or at least I believe it is. In order for you to think better, you need to read and write more. I also found this quote the same as the practice essay we just did. Both science and art have equal importance in society as well as reading and writing with thinking.

    2. I think for all of us, this quote speaks for itself. Many of us consider ourselves great writers yet we do not like to read. If we can do both we can be a well structured writer.

    3. I also said that science and art have equal importance in society!

  8. The quote is a special quote. It says that we need to read to write and we need to write to read, these things go hand in hand like a hand and a glove, or a foot and a shoe. In order to get better at reading or writing we need to learn to write to better at reading, and learn to read by better at writing then we get the final result where reading and writing work together to improve your ability to think! Today, we had a practice exit exam.

  9. The quote itself is pretty self-explanatory, they cannot work well without the other. They work hand in hand. It's a good way to look at things and to help you become a better writer. I was completely blank when I first started my essay but as time went on, it got easier just like everything else.

  10. I believe that this quote is quite self explanatory. Reading and writing work along side each other. It is great to understand both skills because they are not as appreciated as they should be. This quote made me realize that I should practice both skills quite often! This practice exam was a good experience and helped me prepare myself for the actual exit exam.

    1. Without reading or writing, we surely have hard time to improve our skills. They also cannot work balance without each other.

  11. It is an amazing and quote. It remains me to reflect my own ability of reading, writing and critical thinking. They cannot work well without each other. In order to have a better writing skill, you have to be able to read a lot. The more you read, the better writing you get. While thinking, it is a way of reflect that what you have read, what you have learned from your reading, and what else you still need to improve and change in your writing.
Today we had another chance to practice the exit exam, it was great!

  12. The quote is quite self-explanatory. Reading and writing go hand-in-hand. Then, understanding both skills will help improve your way of thinking. Reading more and writing more can help you grow cognitively because you have to think from different perspectives.
As for yesterday's activity, it was a bit stressful to work under pressure but I was able to finish before being late for my next class. The practice exit exam was a pretty good topic. Artists and scientists do contribute to our society in many different and helpful ways, and it was fun to compare the two.

  14. We did a practice exit exam. I also agree with the quote. It is a beautiful one. It is true that if you read a lot you will write a good paper because you are reading books from actual Authors.

    1. Totally! Authors are the best role models for writers. By admiring their way of thinking of a story, having the skills to write the story they did, and knowing how the audience will respond and read it serves as the perfect inspiration. It seems like an author came up with this saying. :O

    2. I agree! I see it as feeding the mind with words for later use. :)

  15. Reading. Writing. Thinking. You can't do one without the other. Each one is necessary. If you can't think, you won't have the knowledge it takes to read and write. In order to write well, reading will prove itself valuable by filling you with words and phrases that could be used in your writing. Each better one another and inevitably form an en endless cycle.

I wasn't able to attend class today, so I'm not able to reflect on today's class activities. :(

  16. I was unable to hear the quote because I came late to class. However, I am able to know what the quote is about because everyone literally said the same thing over and over again. I definitely do agree with all of them. We also took a exit practice test and it was good. I actually worked on this one compared to the other ones. I'm glad we had the option to type it out as well.

  17. Reading and writing are correlative. One will be able to write more effectively and read efficiently. I, personally, experienced the effect of this statement when my vocabulary expanded and my grammar improved after reading various books and novels. I was able to implement these new set of skills in writing an essay.
As for the class activity, we went to a different computer lab and wrote an essay to practice for the one we will have at the end of the semester. I had a difficulty writing the essay considering that I do not work well under pressure. I prefer to take my time in writing an essay.
