  1. We started class with the lesson of exemplification in our workbook. I liked the lesson and the examples that went with it. It showed examples and techniques for the exemplification. We then moved on to the blogging and moodle assignment. It was a good day and, as always, informative.

  2. Today’s activities included learning about writing exemplification, techniques for finding exemplifications, and a few exercises to review exemplifications. I am not sure if I understand this lesson because my mind is drifting from the subject. My main focus is on the essay that I have not started and it is due next class. OH NO! D: But overall, it seemed like a relaxed day. Is anyone else struggling with this essay?

    3. My mind has also been drifting from the lessons for the past days. I didn't realize the essay is due next week either. I have a bunch of brainstorming ideas but not one topic that I have settled on yet. However, we will get through this essay! Good luck!

    4. I'm struggling too! What I took from the activities is to provide examples to strengthen your point.

    5. In the beginning of class i check when our next essay is due and i realized i had to start on mine this weekend. I thought i had more time to finish it but it shouldn't be too hard.

    6. I haven't started the test 2 essay as well. It seems pretty easy though. I wish you luck.

  3. Today we did a lot of exercises. We kind of did something similar to an essay brain stretcher or listing. We did a lot of readings or examples. Although it may seem like we did these things before there are some differences. It is always good to learn new ways or new things to start your essay. It is an upper hand for us. We also learned more transitional words. Class overall today was good!

  4. I liked today's activities because for me, I learned something new. We went over exemplification and that's something I never knew about, so I'm glad we went over it today. We also did some exercises from the book and I liked that too because I like hearing everyone's own opinion about the work. Overall, today's class was great =)

    1. Yes, hearing others opinions is always good. We would probably have even better ideas or might revise our own. I love how our class always shares their opinions.

    2. I like hearing other people's opinion because others have a different point of view from what your opinion is. So it is always refreshing to hear new ideas.

    3. I agree, I enjoyed the class as well as people sharing their own opinion.

    4. I agree with you. I never heard the word exemplification before until today. I am now educated as to what it is.

  5. In today’s class, I really liked the acronym for transitional words. In essays, I’m not really good with using transitional words. We also learned that it helps connect sentences, ideas and paragraphs. HOTSHOT CAT is definitely an acronym that I will be referring to more often, now. The topic about exemplification was also interesting. I know it as describing your topic so that was a new thing. When you write essays, using exemplification will definitely help. It helps give examples, convince or amuse. Overall, I was a bit out of it. The essay readings made me drowsy because it seemed long. Exemplification and HOTSHOT CAT was what got me interested in the beginning.

    1. Oh I feel the same way about using transitional words and also being out of it. I must have been really out of it that I did not hear that word. The only thing that engaged me in this class was the part where we had to do the exercises because it was simple.

    2. I agree with you. I think today's lesson really helped me write a better essay. Transitional words would be a better use for me especially since I always had a hard time trying to find out what words to use.

  6. Today consisted on reading and exercises. Exemplification is really important if you want your audience to have a specific idea on what is being read. The best examples should be specific, vivid and representative. It definitely helps when writing an essay. Overall, today’s class was very relaxing along with informative.

    5. I do believe that it is helpful with writing essays. It gives us a reason to make our essay longer because we have to explain (:

  7. I liked writing the paragraph in the beginning of our activity, it was like making my own little story about what I think could be going on. I love when everyone shares, even on the smallest of things like the list of what you've seen people put aside to watch tv. I rarely watch tv but when I do, nothing comes in the way of that. For example, I watched One Tree Hill reruns all day yesterday. I didn't do my daily run, I even ate while sitting on the couch watching it. I see how attached I get to things, like youtube. I see how much it has somewhat brainwashed people to think that it's okay to humiliate people on purpose. I for one, used to think it was okay also and thought things like that were funny. As much as I despise critical thinking, I actually enjoy doing it in this class and enjoy how challenging I find it.

    1. I also enjoy when everyone gives their opinions =) it gives you a whole different sense of the subject.

    2. I agree with you Richille! I too, liked the writing activities with regards to the photo and all the different activities going on in that photo... What was suppose to be a paragraph ended being maybe, two going or three paragraphs. The photo allowed me to make my own imaginary concoction of a fictional story...

  9. Today’s activities focused on writing exemplifications. Exemplification means using examples to convince or explain. You can get your examples through the writing process so you can further expand. The examples helped me understand the subject. The essay was helpful because it expanded on points with exemplifications to support it. Overall, it was an informatively great day.

  10. It is interesting to see how the teachers would most likely grade our essay's. We could use this to our advantage by apply correcting our essay based on these rubrics, before we turn it in. today was an interesting environment. I prefer to have class in the other computer room, because it feels more lively. I was falling asleep during class, but for the other classroom it feels as if class is to short.

    1. I agree with you! The rubric that it shown above definitely will help us understand how we are graded.

    2. I wasn't falling asleep, but I do feel that the class drags more in here than in the other two rooms.

    3. I don't mind having class in either computer room. I'm pretty tired as well and sometimes my mind would drift away from the lesson.

    4. I like looking at rubrics because it does help how the essay should be, and we always want to look at the side and boxes that have a good one.

  11. Today was a chill day and I really enjoy this class. We went over exemplifications and did class activities that was not hard so I didn't really mind it. I also had to do a make-up essay because i missed class last Tuesday, but it wasn't hard at all. Overall, today was relaxing and enjoy going to labs than going to regular classrooms.

  13. Today we went over exemplification. We did an exercise where we look at a picture and named all the exercises that were taking place in the picture. This was an easy exercise and I enjoyed it. We then had to write a paragraph based on this and I think that my paragraph was very good. We then read an essay about youtube, conspiracies and privacy. This was a interesting story and I enjoyed reading it.

  14. Today’s activities included the topic on exemplification. It’s basically using examples to convince and amuse people more (ex. Phrases and cartoons). This method helps for readers and audiences to develop more and more ideas. I also need my essay to be peer reviewed next class. I hope it sounds ok.

  15. For today’s activities, we went over writing exemplifications. Exemplification means using examples to explain, convince, or amuse. It was informative to read about exemplifications because I realized how useful it could be in an essay. Today was enjoyable because everyone was interacting with one another and there was a lot of reading. To me, I have a love/hate relationship with reading. Today, I actually loved reading the section and following along with the others.

  16. Exemplification: Examples to explain, examples to convince, and examples to amuse. One of the most common and effective ways of developing ideas. This is something I will take into consideration in my next Essay Writing Test; the Narration. Much to learn, and lots to remember!

    3. Exemplification will greatly help us in our next test essay.

  17. The activity that we discussed today is the analytic scoring rubric for writing. This is very convenient to know how we are being scored. So that we know what to focus on so that we could get a better grade. While making a great essay and getting a great grade. I also like how it shows us what to use or what to do to get a better grade. For example, under composing it says to focuses on central ideas with an organized and elaborating text. So I believe that would be very helpful.

  18. For today’s class, we learned about exemplification. We went over the different approach in writing a narrative essay. These different approaches were listing topics and clustering, which is basically the same as the first stage of writing the descriptive essay or any other essay. I enjoyed reading the selection we went over in class; “Little Brother is watching” and “Traveling the World at Home”. I enjoyed doing the exercise, too, where we listed the activities that people are doing in this small picture. After listing, I also used my imagination and wrote a paragraph regarding the activities. I was imagining that I was actually at the park looking at these extremely busy and active people. Other than the activities, I had a hard time staying focused because I realized that the next test is next week. Good luck, guys!

  19. Today's activity was a new chance to learn something new for me and I pretty much like it. Exemplification is using the samples to explain something. It's important in writing an essay and is the most effective ways of developing ideas. By the way, I realized I didn't know what means "i.e.", but after we went over the transitional words part, I knew it and I will never forget it. Overall, I love what we learned in class.

  20. Reading and learning about exemplification is the best way for me to learn. Giving examples to help explain is the best way to help others understand especially if the given example is relatable. Using examples in my papers is a good way to connect with my audience and keep them interested in my topic.
