My thought about todays activity was very helpful. Using pictures and jotting down a list to describe the image helped me. After making a list I was able to make a paragraph. You may also use the list of whatever amount of things you jotted down and make an essay about the image. Also, what astounded me today was that everyone was quiet and productive. Some of us were doing a peer review, the blog, or listening to what Dr. Rivera was saying and teaching.

DeleteTodays lesson was a pretty good. I really liked writing about the park and the types of activities that they have. I thought it was quite easy. In my opinion youtube does have a positive and negative effect just like any other source of social media. It depend on how people see the video. Some videos could be clipped and not show the full story. Some people who post on youtube post hurtful videos. They post parody videos.

DeleteI honestly enjoyed todays essay brain stretcher. Even though I wasn't feeling well, this brain stretcher woke me up and got me into the mood. Although, I did not enjoy reading out loud to the class due to my sore throat..... There was also a short story about youtube . And I totally agree that youtube can be positive but also negative at the same time. I enjoy having class discussion due to knowing and hearing my classmate's opinion which are definitely unique.

DeleteToday we went over exemplification. I think it is important to use examples when writing, in order to give readers a clearer picture. We also read a selection that went over the pros and cons of YouTube. I think people should just take advantage of the positive effects of Youtube, and not waste such an opportunity by exploiting others.

ReplyDeleteToday in class we read about Exemplification and the many ways we can use it in an essay. I enjoyed reviewing on this topic because I do feel like using examples makes a piece easier to comprehend. We did an activity in which we made a list of different exercises, I participated and enjoyed sharing. We then read "Little Brother Is Watching" and it mentioned 1984 by George Orwell and I remember reading that tragic tale of a dystopia and complete control by the government in high school. I liked how Gall compared and contrasted with examples throughout his essay.

DeleteToday I thought was very informative and helpful. The section we we're reading talked about examples. It is important to use examples in your essay, so your audience can visualize what your talking about. Majority of the time I did a peer review. to be completely honest I did not use the table shown above as a reference. I only skimmed through it. I did however listen to majority of the lecture.

DeleteI am aware that today's activity is interesting and helpful, especially writing with examples to strengthen a point in an essay. However, i was preoccupied with peer reviewing an essay. Peer reviewing is interesting because I'm able to see how my peers write and get an insight on their thoughts. Today felt odd because everyone was quiet and preoccupied with different tasks. I must say that i miss the energy that everyone brings but i completely understand that we all must do work because after all, we are all here to learn.

DeleteMy lesson for today is the EN100 Common Assignment. From writing this assignment, It made me realize that my writing skills still need a lot of help. I speak good english, but so bad at writing it. While doing this assignment, I over head the lecture going on about pros and cons. It's a good lesson because it makes people work on their critical thinking skills. You may think you're doing the right thing and you're actually going to face consequences.

DeleteIn this activity, I did my common assignment since I was absent last class. The common assignment made me realize that writing is important to everyone on what we are trying to point out in our summary. I'm lost but I'm still trying to understand what we are talking about in our discussion today. Exemplification is what we are talking about. It will help know what we are saying if we give examples to our audience. This is a good advice to use for our next essay that we will be taking soon. There are pros and cons using social media and we have to be careful on what we are putting online because someone is watching over us. Do not always rely on the internet what you are seeing because it is not true.

DeleteI know today is October 16 and some previous post say October 15, therefore I am slightly lost if this is the right blog date. Also I learned not to be cheap on dates with any girl. I think most people in the modern world lose out on the thought of beauty in simplicity. Like cooking for her and creating a romantic dinner has a better impact in creating moments, rather than showing off money so say in a sense, "love can be bought" which obviously it cannot.

DeleteI loved class today, although some of the girls can be distracting at times. Youtube has had a huge affect on some peoples lives. Example, Justin Bieber became a millionaire for someone discovering his ability to sing. I myself would like to become a youtube star and live a comfortable life. The negative effects such as the police officer example is actually helpful to track down bad law enforcement officers and employees that are taking advantage of their duties.
ReplyDeleteI also want to be a internet sensation like a vine star. I heard from an interview that just by making a 6 second video, they make as much as a teacher who works 4 months.

DeleteI thought that today's activity was okay. I learned that pictures can help you with the technique of listing. Listing can really help you write down a paragraph more properly and in order. As for the YouTube thing, I believe that it can be both helpful and harmful. It can provide useful tutorials and information, but it can also mess up someone's reputation with scandals and embarrassing videos.

DeleteIn today's class, I did my common assignment. The comment assignment helped me because I really had to think hard about what my essay would be about. I enjoyed writing because I know the more I write, the better I become as a writer. I wasn't really paying attention to what the class did today, but I believe they learned exemplification. I think I heard they were talking about Youtube, and how you can post anything online. Over years. I've learned to always be careful about what you post online because it can create ruin your life.
ReplyDeleteDuring the last couple years of middle school and the first couple of years of high school, I learned to refrain from posting certain things because people will judge you and change the story.
DeleteIn class, we learned techniques for finding examples in a listing and clustering format. We also learned how to identify exemplification through reading a couple of stories.It was interesting to hear the many opinions that my classmates had on the negative and positive effects of youtube. We also read about the double standard in relationships and how we experience cultural diversity in where we live. It was an eye opener to hear the opposing opinions that people had on the critical thinking questions on each exercise. Although, I did not agree on some of the opinions said in class, it helped me to look at both sides of the story and come up with a new perspective.
ReplyDeleteToday we learned that exemplification uses examples to explain or convince. It is an effective way to help develop ideas. The best examples to support information is to be specific, vivid and representative. The activity we did on a photo of a crowded park was very helpful because we got to write down the many different examples on the way people exercise at a park. We were then able to write a paragraph by using the examples. It's useful to state examples on our essay because it helps the reader understand more on what our topic is.
