  2. Today's class was very interesting. I got to hear and get an idea to those who read their view on their topic. It gave me a broad idea on how I can improve my writing. With the three stages helps me develop into writing my paragraphs better. Also, towards the end when Taylor said his side of his topic writing was hilarious. I am learning more and more for this class every time we have this class.

  4. An expository essay is basically explaining about an object, person, place etc. It requires research and firm vocabulary to get your point across. Today's lesson for today was good as always. We're all another step closer to being better essay writers.

  5. An expository essay is used when an idea must be investigated and a writer makes the choice of doing so in an essay format. Today we had reviewed about topic sentences and support. In pattern B there must be a conclusion also involved. This will be helpful when comes time to write the expository essay that is due in the beginning of November.

  7. I always look forward to going to class because we always learn something new. My classmates are very friendly and we get along so well. Today's activity was very interesting because we got to hear others point of view on a topic, that was given in the book. Everyone had different points of view but the same concept. I really enjoy this class because we can be ourselves and Dr.Rivera makes learning more fun. :)

  8. An expository essay is a type of essay where a person researches an idea and investigates to see an argument, then compares and contrast the argument. The expository essay topic that I would choose is major stressors in a teens' lives. I may not be a teen anymore, but I can still can relate to what they're going through. For example, the stressors can be school, family, or work. I enjoyed today's class because I got the chance to see my classmates' point of view on their topics.

    1. Your expository topic sounds like it would be very fascinating and interesting because I can also relate to it.

    2. I can totally relate to your topic Ina! The adolescent years can suck sometimes, especially if we have an expectation to be met. Juggling school, work, social life, home life, and trying to reach a certain goal can be a struggle especially when there's so much to do in a small amount of time.

    3. Sounds like you have a good start on that essay. Picking a topic can sometimes be the hardest part but once we have that writing can flow a lot better.

    4. You picked a good topic! I can definitely relate because although "teenager problems" may sound amateur to adults, teenagers really do run into many stressful situations.

    5. Its amazing how people have different angles about certain topics. It's always interesting when we have the same topic, but different point of views on them.

  9. An expository essay is where the writes shows his/her ideas, points of view, and arguments on a specific topic. When writing an expository essay, the body of the paragraph must include support. Today’s class we went through a student demonstration of all stages of the writing process. We also did an exercise where we were given a few topic sentences and had to make it into a paragraph. Listening to some of my colleagues read their paragraphs was very interesting. Going through exercises like this are helpful because it will eventually progress my writing.

    3. Today's paragraph activity really helped me learn how to write quickly and effectively! I usually don't do well under pressure, so activities like these help me practice.

  10. In an expository essay you would need to share an idea and support it. It is one of simplest essay form that doesn't require you to argue a point but instead to describe something. My topic would be on why parents are strict on their kids because I can put myself in their shoes and see why there are restrictions to what us teens can do. For some reason this week, I have been having a difficult time trying to analyze and communicate with others. It might be the fact that I'm sick and the weathers been bipolar this month. Today, I had a hard time trying to organize my thoughts and perpetuate my topic but I'm glad that Didree understood where I was coming from and it made me feel better that atleast one person can see what I'm trying to say. Overall, another lesson was learned today and hopefully I can apply it to my future essay.

Even though you had a hard time organizing your thoughts, I still got to understand what you were trying to say in your essay. You still did a good job!

    2. I saw where you were coming from and it was a creative choice to surprise the readers at the end. You did good and will definitely improve and be even better. Always here to support a friend!

    3. I'm surprised you had a rough time doing the paragraph activity because I think you did really well! I liked how you chose to take a more unique route by surprising us all with your topic at the last minute. And your topic was really funny!

  12. An expository essay is a type of essay that requires the writer to effectively explain an idea to the reader. The writer must be clear with his or her topic and have evidence to support his or her topic. The topic I would choose would either be the impact of music genres on society or the consequences of skipping school. These topics interest me because I believe music has a great impact on society and that skipping school has many negative consequences. Today's activities helped me further understand the importance of topic sentences and their supporting sentences.

  13. An expository essay is to present important information about a specific subject. For this essay, I would use the topic Explain why parents are strict. I chose this topic because I have Filipino parents that are strict towards me. Their generation and our generation is now different from theirs, but they still compare it. This topic will keep me going and rant about Filipino parents. Today's activity went by fast. We just read and did one paragraph. It was funny when Taylor presented his own. I'm looking forward hearing other people essay soon.

  14. An expository is research based. A writer must be able to construct a strong thesis and support it with accurate facts in order for the paper to get be credible. This essay follows a specific structure because it is usually contrusted as a five-paragraph essay. Precision and accuracy wtih facts is a must in writing an expository essay because one does not want to mislead the reader. A topic that i would like to work on would be about the importance of getting a driver's license, major stressors' for teenager, and explain why admire a certain person. Today's class was a lot of fun just like every other class. It's is always good to have a recap on the stages of writing because sometimes, we tend to forget due to the nature of being human. Once again, Taylor and his philosophical word brightened up the class!
